Terms and Conditions

These terms cover your use of Merrin’s website, waitlist and parenting support. Using Merrin means you accept them. How we handle your information is described separately in our Privacy Policy.

What Merrin is

Merrin is a parenting support service. It offers general guidance drawn from reviewed parenting material and the family context you choose to share. It is not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for a doctor, therapist, teacher or other professional who knows your family. Decisions about your child remain yours.

Merrin is not for emergencies

Do not use Merrin for urgent or emergency situations. If a child is in danger, or if anyone is at risk of harming themselves or others, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line immediately. Merrin does not monitor conversations in real time and cannot summon help.

Who can use Merrin

You must be 18 or over and a parent or caregiver to use Merrin. During early access, parent accounts are available by invitation only, and Merrin is offered in the United States and Canada. Joining the waitlist does not create an account or guarantee an invitation.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details to yourself and let us know at hello@getmerrin.com if you think someone else has access. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Do not share an account with someone whose family details you are not entitled to provide.

What you share with Merrin

Anything you write to Merrin stays yours. You give us permission to use it only to run the service for you: to reply, to carry your family context forward, and to keep the service secure and working. You can view, correct and delete the family details Merrin remembers at any time. Only share details about another adult or another family’s child if you are entitled to do so.

Using Merrin responsibly

Please do not use Merrin to break the law or harm anyone, to seek help with harming a child, to impersonate someone else, to resell or redistribute its responses as your own professional advice, or to scrape, overload, probe or reverse-engineer the service. We may suspend access that puts other people, or the service, at risk.

AI-generated responses

Merrin uses automated systems, including AI models, to help compose replies. AI can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, and no reply is reviewed by a person before you see it. Treat what Merrin says as a starting point and use your own judgment.

Texts and calls

If you add a mobile number to your account and agree to receive texts, Merrin texts you replies to your messages, the codes that confirm your number, summaries after a call, and the check-ins you turn on. Merrin calls you only when you ask it to or book an intro call. Message frequency varies with how you use Merrin. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to stop texts at any time; after STOP we send no further texts unless you reply START. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Early access

Merrin is still being built. Features may change, break or be withdrawn, data may be reset during testing, and availability is not guaranteed. We will give you reasonable notice before a change that would lose your conversations or family details.

Fees

Merrin is free during early access. We plan to offer a paid subscription later. We will tell you the price and terms before any charge, and you will always have to agree to a paid plan before you are billed.

Our content and brand

The Merrin name, logo, site, software and guidance library belong to us or our licensors. You may use them to use the service, and not to copy, resell or build a competing product.

Ending your access

You can stop using Merrin and ask us to close your account at any time by emailing hello@getmerrin.com. We may suspend or end access if these terms are broken, or if we discontinue the service, in which case we will give you notice and a chance to retrieve your information where we reasonably can.

Disclaimers and liability

Merrin is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, and we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or suitable for your particular situation. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, so parts may not apply to you.

Changes to these terms

We will update this page as Merrin changes and revise the date above. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Merrin after that means you accept the updated terms.
